Aspen Valley Middle School believes that physically active students are more successful in the classroom, so we provide daily opportunities and requirements for students to be active. In the classroom, teachers employ movement activities between cognitive periods to maximize engagement and memory formation.
Outside of the classroom, all students participate in hiking groups on two or three days out of the week. Students hike around the area, exploring the greenbelts, neighborhood, and parks near the school. Students can also choose to participate in daily Outdoor Activities that include tradition team sports, in addition to other physical activities.
Aspen's schedule is designed to allow students to return to participate in athletics programs available at other middle schools. Students finish their day before other middle schools release their students, so that they can participate in any of the clubs and activities available at the other District 20 middle schoools.
